| KUBAN TUR (Capra caucasica)
also called the West-Caucasian tur is found in KRASNODAR AREA.
The shoulder height is 37-42 inches, the weight is usually 145-175 pounds, sometimes more. The face is short and blunt. The beard is long, up to 7 inches. The short summer coat is grayish or yellowish-brown, very dark brown on the legs. The winter coat is heavier, varying from grayish to reddish-brown, with a dark dorsal stripe. The horns are scimitar-shaped with prominent transverse ridges.
All Subspecies of Tur are hunted at elevations between 8 000 and 10 000 ft. |
